Mission Possible, a summer Vacation Bible School will be offered at Hope Point Nazarene in Yuba City from June 17 to June 20 and Live Oak from June 24 to June 27.Mission Possible Logo

Kids will join in Bible-learning activities, sing fun songs and play games.

Mission Possible is open to 4 year-olds through 6th graders and goes from 9 am to 11:30 Monday through Thursday at each location.

Choose either Basketball or Cheerleading in our new seasonUpward - Logo

Registration for the 2013 season of Upward Sports is in full swing online. Click on the Upward Sports tab on the church web site home page, www.hopepointnaz.org, to register your child for either basketball or cheerleading. Adults also can get applications to volunteer as cheer or basketball coaches and referees on the web site.

To receive the biggest discount, register by Nov. 9. The registration deadline in Nov. 16.

Practices begin the week of Jan.  7, 2013. Games start January 19, 2013. An hour of practice and one game are scheduled each week for 8 weeks.  Each participant must attend one evaluation to assess their skill level for basketball or one orientation session for cheerleading. The evaluations are used to create balanced teams. Each child also is measured for a uniform as part of evaluation day. Complete information and registration is available at www.upwardyubasutter.org

Hope Point Hosts Bible Bee Saturday, Aug. 25

Hope Point will host a first round competition Saturday, Aug. 25, in the National Bible Bee.

Kristen Cleveland of Hope Point Nazarene expects upward of 30 competitors in the local bee. Doors open at 8 am.


The program promotes family Bible study, Scripture memorization and prayer. National Bible Bee winners receive college scholarships.

Quiz practices begin in Yuba City & Live Oak

Bible Quizzing starts Aug. 26 in Yuba City




Another exciting Children’s Bible Quizzing starts Sunday, Aug. 26, upstairs in the Lighthouse Room 206 for Hope Point Kids in Yuba City. In Live Oak quiz practices are Tuesday at 6:30 pm.

This season the study will focus on The Book of Acts. Kids in 1st through 6th grades may take part in Bible Quizzing. Competition is an optional part of the program. Four “quiz meets” with teams from other Nazarene churches in the Sacramento District are hosted at participating churches. A final “District Quiz” happens in late March. Quizzers who score highest as individuals or teams at the District meet qualify for a regional competition at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego.

Coaching the Yuba City campus team will be Dan and Pam Wickline. Bob Morgan returns as Live Oak’s coach.

Children’s Book author visits Kidz Church

Children’s book author Debbie Funk and her husband Kirk visited Kidz Church the first weekend of August for a special reading and lesson from the book, “Sluggy the Brave Snail!”

The Funks are part of the Hope Point Church family.

Sky – Vacation Bible School starts July 9

A summer Vacation Bible School called Sky will be hosted at Hope Point Nazarene in Yuba City from July 9 to July 13.

At Sky, faith and imagination soar as kids discover that everything is possible with God.

Kids will join in Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs and play teamwork-building games. They also will make and dig into yummy treats, experience electrifying Bible adventures and collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them to trust God. Crafts that kids can play with all summer long also will be sent home with the children.

Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called “God Sightings.”

Kids at Sky will join an international mission’s effort to wipe out malaria in the African country of Mali—sending more than a million mosquito nets to protect  children.

Sky for 1st to 5th graders goes from 9 am to 12 noon each Monday thru Friday. For preschoolers 3 years thru Kindergarten, it will go from 9 am to 12 noon Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Another opportunity to experience SKY VBS for Kindergartners and 1st through 5th graders will be offered July 30 thru Aug. 3 at Hope Point’s Live Oak campus at 2727 Fir St. It also will go from 9 am to 12 noon.

Puppet Show & Ice-Cream Social

Hope Point Kidz Children’s Ministry will host a fun event featuring a puppet show and yummy ice cream in the Lighthouse Children’s Building on Friday, June 22. The festivities start at 6:30 pm and will go until 8:30 pm. Invite a friend and come enjoy the fun!

The winner of the Boys vs. Girls Alabaster Missions fund-raiser also will be announced this evening. Alabaster offering helps build churches and ministry facilities in Nazarene mission areas throughout the world.
